Why would a city leader remove bike lanes ?
In Pittsburgh,PA USA we are adding bike lanes.
Mayor Rob Ford is the Fat Cat politician poster boy. He has a record for domestic violence, alcoholism, cheating on football games as the coach and being a homophobic. His predecessor David Miller would bike to work and take public transit. Rob Ford drives to work and talks on his cell phone, (which is illegal in the province of Ontario). When he was told to get off the phone by another motorist he gave her the finger and drove off. He removed some of the newer bike lanes from the city due to public pressure by motorists that feel they have more of a right to the downtown streets that cyclists do because they pay for vehicle taxes and registration.
